Can I order over the phone?
We're happy to answer your questions or take your order over the phone Monday through Saturday 10am. to 5pm (10am to 4pm during the month of January). 207-882-9500. Outside of those hours, please leave us a message and we'll call you back.
What are the "Peas"?
Our "peas" are either custom dyed freshwater pearls called Birthpearls®, 14k gold, silver or real gemstones such as amethyst, garnet, quartz etc.
How do I arrange to have a design personalized?
If you are interested in a Mother's Peapod design click on the green START HERE box in the upper right hand corner. This will take you to our Personalization Page. For our other designs either call us 207-882-9500 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org and let us know what colors you would like. We'll personalize as you request, photograph it and send it to you for review.
How can I add a "pea" to my Mother's Peapod?
We offer an upgrade for our Mother's Peapod designs. Simply send us your pod and we'll exchange it for a larger one. The cost to add one additional "pea" to a sterling Mother's Peapod pendant is $60. Please call or email us for prices for your specific design 207-882-9500, email@example.com.
Are all items in stock?
We stock most of the designs and take pride in shipping the day of your order. But we're a small studio, and our pieces are made by hand, one at a time, so we occasionally run out of a piece. If we don't have your choice in stock, we'll call or e-mail you within 24 hours to give you a shipping date.
Can I purchase an online gift card?
Absolutely and for any amount $10 or more. Simply click on the Gift Card link in green lettering at the top of our page. The advantage of this online Gift Card is that you can either email the code directly to the recipient or print it off. For tax reasons Gift Cards have a separate shopping cart and checkout from our jewelry. If you would like a hard plastic gift card we are happy to take your credit card information over the phone and send it to you or the recipient. This card can be used in our store or online.
Will I pay sales tax when I buy from Peapod Jewelry?
Our workshop and gallery are in Maine, so Peapod Jewelry is required by law to charge 5.5% sales tax for all orders shipped to a Maine address.
When and how will my order be shipped?
If the design is in stock, we ship though the US Postal Service within 48 hours. For each address within the United States, the following charges apply:
Ground shipping: FREE for any orders $100 or more! $5.99 for orders under $100. Please allow 2 to 7 business days.
Priority Mail: $10.00 Allow 2 - 3 days.
Priority Express $30.00 East Coast and Midwest usually overnight. West Coast 2 days.
Do you offer International Shipping?
Yes we do. Through our website we offer First Class International shipping through the US Postal Service to Canada, The United Kingdom, Ireland, New Zealand and Australia. The cost is $15.00 US. Shipping time can take anywhere from 1 to 3 weeks. Please call us if you want your item sent through FedEx or UPS, OR to another country. We will do our best to accommodate you.
Are prices affected by fluctuations of precious metals and gemstones?
Yes. These prices are apt to fluctuate, so our prices are subject to change.
I want to buy a ring. How do I know what size to order?
The best way to determine your ring size is to have your finger measured at a jewelry store. Most jewelers will do it at no charge. If you're ordering a ring as a gift and you don't want to spoil the surprise, locate one of the recipient's rings and take it to a jeweler who can tell you what size it is. Or you can use our Ring Sizing Guidelines
. Contact us if you have any questions about how to use the guidelines. When you purchase from us, we size your ring at no charge.
What if the ring I buy is the wrong size?
When you buy a ring, we size it for free. We charge for later sizing of the same ring. If you can bring your ring to our gallery, some sizing can be done while you wait, or it might take several days depending upon the ring style and the amount the ring needs to be sized. Sizing can loosen stones. Please have your Peapod Jewelry ring sized here. We guarantee our own work. We cannot guarantee to replace lost stones if the work is done somewhere else.
I have trouble with clasps on necklaces and earwires on earrings. Do you have something easy?
We offer a silver magnetic clasp for our chains which is a favorite for people that struggle with small things. You'll find it on our chain page for $8.50. Add it to your cart and we'll attach it to the chain you have ordered. Please keep in mind that 24" chains fit over most people's heads so there is no need to open the clasp. We use locking leverback hooks on most of our dangle earrings. If you find these hard to use we are happy to change them over to a shepherd hook style at no additional charge. Will my purchase arrive gift wrapped?
All items individually valued at $100 or more will arrive gift boxed with a satin ribbon. Included in the box is a polishing cloth, a card insert about our Peapod designs. We also can gift wrap with Peapod pattern or holiday paper. Please ask. If it is a gift let us know, we are happy to provide a note card you can fill out.
I noticed my Birthpearls® are fading. What can I do about that?
Occasionally the color of the Birthpearls® may be affected by wear. Stop in or mail us your piece of Peapod Jewelry and we will polish the piece and replace your Birthpearls® at no cost. If you are mailing your Peapod to us, be sure to include your contact information (email, address, phone number) in the package.
Please note: There will be a $5.99 return shipping charge.
May I return a piece I purchased from Peapod Jewelry?
If for any reason you would like to return an item ordered from Peapod Jewelry, except for a piece bought on sale, please return it in its original condition within 30 days for a full credit card refund. If you received the item as a gift we are happy to exchange it for another Peapod Jewelry product or issue you a gift card of equal value.
Do you repair Peapod Jewelry?
Should you find a defect in your jewelry within the first year after purchase, we will repair or replace it at no cost to you. If your piece from Peapod Jewelry needs repairs later, please don't let anyone but us repair it. We guarantee our own work. We cannot guarantee to replace lost stones if the work is done somewhere else.
Protecting your jewelry
Some chemicals, chlorine in particular, will damage gold or sterling silver. Any gemstone can chip, break or crack if it is subjected to a sharp blow. We recommend removing your jewelry before participating in sports, yard work, housework, or crafts, and before using a hot tub or swimming pool. Have your rings cleaned and checked once a year. We're happy to do it at no charge if you're in the area and stop at our gallery.
Cleaning your jewelry
We ship a complimentary 100% cotton polishing cloth with each order which can be used on gold or silver jewelry. Follow the directions provided with the cloth. Avoid chemicals that are intended to strip off tarnish. They will damage pearls and often other gemstones. If you're nearby and can stop in at our gallery, we're happy to clean your Peapod Jewelry at no charge.
