What does "peapod jewelry", or "pea in a pod jewelry" mean?

Our “peas” are either custom-dyed freshwater pearls called Birthpearls®, 14k gold, silver, seaglass, or real gemstones such as amethyst, garnet, aquamarine, etc. At Peapod Jewelry® we give our customers the opportunity to sit on the designer bench and personalize their own pea in pod jewelry to symbolize motherhood, memorialize a loved one, celebrate a birth month, and more.

What is the difference between vermeil and 14k gold?

Our vermeil is a durable 14k gold electroplated over a base layer of Sterling Silver. Our 14k gold pieces are made from real gold. Vermeil offers a more financially friendly option for gold lovers. However, because it is gold-plated, it can wear off over time or with machine polishing.

Can I personalize my Mothers Peapod Earring/Pendant/Bracelet?

You can absolutely personalize your Mothers Peapod Earring/Pendant/Bracelet with your choice of jewelry style, metal, Birthpearls, chain length or bracelet size. Mothers Peapod Pendant and Earring designs are available in sterling silver, vermeil (heavy gold plate over sterling silver) or 14k gold and can be customized with 1 to 8 Birthpearls or gemstones. Mothers Peapod Bracelets are available from 1 – 5 peas in sterling silver or 14k gold only.

Can I add a pea to my Mother's Peapod® jewelry?

Of course, you can add more peas to your Mother’s Peapod® jewelry. The cost to add one additional “pea” to a sterling Mother’s Peapod pendant is $60. Add a little sparkle to your wrist with one of our charm bracelets or bangle bracelets from Peapod Jewelry. Handcrafted at our Edgecomb, Maine, studio, each bracelet features a selection of our striking gemstone or pearl “peas,” which you can customize in your favorite colors.

Commemorate a special occasion or celebrate an anniversary, graduation, or birthday with a bracelet made from sterling silver or 14k yellow gold. Bangle designs include our Classic Peapod and elegant swirled Nautilus Shell, and other unique models, including our Lobster Pot Buoy.

We also have our delicate pea pocket bracelets, which feature a glittering “pea” nestled inside a sterling silver or gold pocket, shaped like an oyster shell.
